Main application of industrial silicon: 
The industrial silicon also called silicon metal, its main application is the additive agent of non-ferrous alloy. When putting the silicon into some nonferrous metal, it can improve the matrix metal’s strength, solidity and abrasion performance and sometimes can improve the casting property and welding performance. Industrial silicon also can be used in silicon steel making which is required strict alloy agent, and used as deoxidizer for smelting special steel and nonferrous matrix alloy. After a series of processing treatment, the industrial silicon can be made to be monocrystalline silicon for electronic industry.

Production process of industrial silicon: 

The industrial silicon smelting is in AC electric reducing furnace, our company use the advanced technology of domestic and foreign to design furnaces, it’s with advanced and reasonable technology, it’s substantially improved the industrial silicon furnace’s power factor and equipments’ working efficiency.

The main raw material of smelting industrial silicon includes : silica, carbonaceous reducing agent. Because of the strict requirement of the aluminum, calcium and iron content in industrial silicon, so it has same strict requirement for the raw material.

Requirement of Raw material: SiO2 (in silica)99.0%, Al2O30.3%, Fe2O30.15%, CaO0.2%, MgO0.15%, particle size is 2580.

The principle to choose carbonaceous reducing agent is: high fixed carbon, low ash specification, good chemical activity. Usually, by using the low-ash petroleum coke or pitch coke as reductant.  due to both of the coke have low resistivity, poor reaction ability, we have to use the charcoal (wood brick) with low ash specification, powerful resistivity and strong respond ability to replace some petroleum coke. For sintering the burden we also need use some low-ash soot.
